I travelled out of state a few weeks ago, and the morning I left RoRo woke up with a terrible cough. I was hoping it was just allergies, or the change in seasons. Unfortunately it was the beginning of a terrible cold, and soon it was passed onto our entire household.
In a house like ours, once somebody gets sick we all get sick. Our littlest boys share everything, no matter how much handwashing and disinfectant is used the fact of the matter is this; If one of them gets sick it's inevitable the other one will too. Once they're sick it's highly likely I will be too. If I'm sick then so is Big G, and once it's gone that far the older kids are sick as well.
So for the past two and a half weeks we've all been battling the cooties or whatever it was. It started with a cough that never let up and was the last thing any of us could shake. Head cold, slight fever, loss of appetite. I didn't even want my coffee!
I didn't even have a voice for about 5 days, and once it came back I sounded like a man. I'm still getting over that part. These boys though, were so pitiful. They didn't have much of an appetite and although they were hungry it hurt to eat because their poor throats were so sore. Thankfully, since I'm a Popsicle® Ambassador, I always have some Popsicle's on hand. These things were seriously a life saver during this time, the boys would just lay on the couch and suck on a Popsicle® to soothe their little throats.
Thankfully this period didn't last too long, I don't like to see my guys all miserable like this. Soon they were up and running around, but still not at 100%. I wanted to try to keep them indoors as much as possible until the yuckies were completely gone, and until I felt good enough to go outside as well! Thankfully I remembered all those fun downloadable worksheets on the Popsicle facebook page that I mentioned here.
We decided to have some indoor fun the Popsicle® way, and wouldn't you know these boys had a blast?
Between coloring pages for RoRo and word searches for D-Man there was plenty of entertainment to keep them occupied. Usually not an easy feat, but this held their interest and worked like a charm!
I'd planned to get crafty with all of these Popsicle® sticks that we've accumulated over the past few months, but I have something planned for next month.
Instead we used them for these fun mustache's that were a part of the downloads, along with these fun crowns. They enjoyed being silly and dressing up so much!
The lesson I've learned during this period, was that Popsicle's are so valuable through the cold and flu season as well as during the hot summer seasons. Not only are their downloadable activities great during summer parties, but they're perfect for rainy day or cold season indoor fun too!
What activities do you and your family participate in during the cold and rainy seasons to make the days fun?
