Who doesn't love asparagus? It's one of those vegetables that you don't have to do much with. It has a wonderful flavor, and not to mention asparagus spears are gorgeous! It's pretty and tasty enough that you can serve at a formal dining event and will be pleasing to the eye as well as the palate served with a filet mignon or a honey glazed ham, but it's diverse enough to be served with a traditional dinner at home as a side to chicken or steak.
I simply love it! Garlic and Parmesan also go hand in hand, and they compliment asparagus wonderfully. This is a favorite go to veggie for me when I'm bored of salads. It's a simple recipe to throw together, and all the ingredients you can usually find in your pantry. If you haven't noticed by now, that's pretty much ideal for all of my favorite recipes, and what you will usually find here from me. Quick, easy and simple ingredients, with wonderful flavor. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Ingredients:
- one pound of Asparagus spears (about 20 spears or so)
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon season salt
Directions:
|
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Rinse your Asparagus spears. Break each spear near the end, it should just naturally break off, this is good rather than cutting it. Place in a baking dish and brush with olive oil until all spears are well soaked. |
|
Add your minced garlic and mix it well with your spears. Place baking dish in preheated oven, bake uncovered for 6-8 minutes, then mix the spears around and bake for another 6-8 minutes. They are done when they are bendable, but you don't want them mushy! |
|
This is how the asparagus and garlic will look when it's done. The asparagus will still have it's same basic shape, but the spears will just be a little soft. Perfection! |
|
Mix together the Parmesan cheese and seasoned salt and sprinkle on top the cooked asparagus. Then roll them around and the cheese will slightly melt. So delicious! |
|
Seriously, how delicious does this look? |
|
Put on a plate with your meal, and enjoy! You'll be grabbing seconds! |
