I LOVE brown rice. I think it's delicious, but prior to finding this recipe I pretty much could never get it right. Most of the time when I made it, it was far too crunchy, even when I doubled the cooking time. Until I found this recipe, that is! I pretty much copied this recipe step by step, and it's absolutely delicious. I don't think I'll ever make brown rice differently!!
Alton Brown's Baked Brown Rice
Ingredients:
- 1 and 1/2 cups short or medium grain brown rice
- 2 and 1/2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or margarine, divided
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
Place the rice in an 8 inch square glass baking dish.
Once the water is poured over the rice, stir to combine it well. Then cover tightly with foil and place in your preheated oven for about an hour.
After an hour, remove foil cover.
Add the 2nd tablespoon of butter, then fluff the rice with a fork.
Serve and enjoy!!
