In the short time that I've been a blogger I've come across some really wonderful blogs and made connections with some pretty awesome people!
Some of my blogger friends I've been friends with for many years, and other's I've met through them and through blogging in general. I'm involved in a few groups, one of them is my Think Outside the Blog group. In addition to that group, there's another group of ladies I've become very close to. My longtime friend Xenia from Raised by Culture and my new friend Ruby from Growing up Blackxican created a group that we call Blog Luv. It's basically a small support system, we discuss our blogs and bounce ideas off of each other. It's a place that we all feel comfortable to ask for advice, tips and anything else we may desire. There's seasoned bloggers and new ones, and it's a wonderful and amazing collection full of inspiring women with a story to tell. I often feel honored to be in the company of these amazing women.
A while back, we decided to do a Valentine's day gift exchange. Sort of like a secret Santa since we were keeping our partners a secret until the gifts arrived. I loved the idea and jumped at the opportunity to be a part of something so special!
When I was sent my partner, I was so excited because I'd already begun to grow a friendship with Melissa (from Painting Mariposas in the Sky). Melissa is also not far from me at all, and we've already discussed meeting sometime this year. I love her blog, she is also in a interracial marriage and has the cutest little girl. She writes about many different things, from recipes, family, travel, arts and crafts and weight loss to overcoming hardship and abuse. I look up to her so much, and love her blog. So I was ecstatic to have gotten her as my partner. You can imagine my surprise when my doorbell rang and my shipment came, and I saw that she had also gotten me as her partner!!
I loved all my gifts! I had to fight for some of the candy between my husband and kids but I got about half of it. (Yes, they're gone already!!)
I cannot wait to watch the movie. I look up to Julia Child so much, like her I developed my love for cooking in my 30's and she paved the way for so many. In addition to that, I absolutely LOVE Meryl Streep, so I was delighted with that gift.
And my SUPER cute apron is adorable! I love the black and white polka dots, the ruffles, the fit, and the gorgeous bow with jewel embellishment! Melissa sure knows what I like! I love that!
Thanks Melissa!! I love it all, and can't wait to cuddle up with my honey and watch this super cute movie!
Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!
